Remote Desktop Manager: using Windows applications at the control

Remote Desktop Manager (option 133) makes manual access from a HEIDENHAIN control to all Windows applications in the network possible. This especially includes applications for managing the following topics:

  • Technical drawings
  • CAD data
  • NC programs
  • Tool data
  • Work instructions
  • Component location diagrams
  • Information on available stock
  • MES (manufacturing execution systems)
  • ERP systems (enterprise resource planning)

Furthermore, the user can also receive and send e-mails from the HEIDENHAIN control on his machine tool.

Direct viewing, processing, and sharing of data

Thanks to Remote Desktop Manager, the user can view, process, and share any data and other information that arises at the milling machine during production and that is required elsewhere in the process chain directly from his HEIDENHAIN TNC control without delay.

With Remote Desktop Manager, all it takes is a push of a button on the control keyboard to switch between the control screen and the screen of a Windows PC. It can be a computer in the local network or an industrial PC (IPC), such as the HEIDENHAIN IPC 6641, in the machine's electrical cabinet. The user can freely choose the key combination for switching the screens in the control settings.

Bringing the office to the machine

The user at the machine tool on the shop floor can simply operate and use all the usual applications, e.g. for managing, documenting, and visualization, right on the control. Compute-intensive CAD/CAM tasks do not affect CNC machining and machine performance. The shop floor is a full-fledged part of the efficient process chain.
